10 years in the making…
I was planning the PIT’s first birthday party (a pool party, she still loves to swim) when the slight shimmer of a dream popped into my mind.
She was born on the 10th, thus making her “golden birthday” at the perfect age for an epic celebration—Disney vacation style.
It was an almost laughable idea at the time given my “self inflicted” miserable crumbling life.
The idea never left.
In the back of my mind I was determined to make this dream a reality.
Over the years, I laid awake countless nights imagining the smile on her face and the joy in her eyes when she finally met Cinderella…picturing enjoying a sunny, sandy beach with my favorite person in the entire world.
And over the years, I laid awake countless nights thinking how absurd the idea was. I mean seriously, how in the hell was I going to pull THAT off?!
I didn’t stress too much about it because I had already prepared myself for disappointment.
An annoying habit I really need to kick to the curb.
This year, she turns 10.
Where the fuck has the time gone and holy balls is this really happening?!
The countdown is on
In 30 days, the PIT, Nana and I will land in our Disney dream just in time for lunch…
an unforgettable birthday lunch with a side of dream come fucking true!

It will be amazing for all of you I’m sure. I took my daughter when she was 8 and it was indeed a dream come true. I am trying to find your contribution button so I can make a contibution to said dream come true trip. I see the March of Dimes one, but not one for your blog. Am I missing something?
Thank you Diana, we are SO excited and she squeals every night when she crosses off another day declaring “One day closer Mama!”
I hadn’t put up a contribute button until now…I wasn’t sure I wanted to being the stubborn ass that I am but I have learned, believe it or not, that help is not a bad thing…..
I am constantly amazed at the generousity of some of the wonderful bloggers out there. It is truly unselfish of you to put your stories out there, maybe for others to feel less alone, to possibly learn from, or just for the enjoyment of reading good writing. I remember reading “The Book of Meth”, I couldn’t stop, even though it was 2am and I had to get up for work at 6am. Whatever the reasons we read, there is always more than one way we can say “Thank You”.
I hope your PIT has a fabulous time on her Disney birthday trip. I know you will have a great time just watching her dream come true.
Diana =)
I cannot thank you enough Diana….for the help, the support, reading the Book of Meth in its insane entirety (a special thank you for that since I typed that entire thing, night after night, on my phone because i didn’t have a computer yet. I almost lost a thumb!) but most of all, thank you for being the kind of person who reaffirms my faith in the goodness of people…so very few people, none of whom go unappreciated here.
I can’t wait to share all the pictures and stories of our grand adventure when we get back. It will be amazing to share it with those of you who have probably never met me but yet know more about me than most people who have met me, repeatedly.
