It’s that time, another year has flown by in the blink of an eye.

She turned 11 today.

My beautiful baby girl is growing up into a beautiful young woman who is fierce, tenacious, and just plain amazing.

Just this morning she looked at the clock and said “It’s 1020 in Minnesota, right?”

I replied with the standard “yup”.

“So technically, 11 years ago RIGHT now, you were pushing me out….of your vagina!” and then burst into laughter.

She continues to make her mother very, very proud.

Even though her birthday ‘sucked’….she had her first ‘barf at school’ incident today…not a cool birthday but totally memorable, right? We’ll be having a redo on the birthday dinner another night.

The poem is as true as it was the night that I wrote it…..I’ll be reading it to the PIT later on tonight….as we always do on her birthday….she likes mama’s poem!

I wrote this for the PIT the 2nd night we were home from the hospital….just the 2 of us…..

To my daughter…….

It was love at first sight,

I held you close, I held you tight.

Your tiny fingers and tiny toes,

Beautiful dark eyes and tiny little nose.

A smile that melts my heart

A bond that can’t be torn apart.

I treasure every moment you spend in my arms.

I will always keep you safe from harm.

I will always help you find your way,

I love you more everyday.

It is plain to see,

just how much you mean to me.

I would lay down my life for you

I will support you in all that you do.

I will always wipe away your tears

and I will always be here to calm your fears.

One thing that will always be true,

Is the unconditional love that I have for you.
